Looking for a past issue Journal article? The Guild has recently posted to our web site a Journal index reaching back to Vol 1, No 1. The index is maintained in Excel and contain 7 columns of searchable / filterable information:
1. Journal – the journal volume and issue represented as “50-1”, for example
2. Page – the page number in the journal starting the article
3. Article – the article title. This field can be searched for key words; entering “Grips” in the search field will return every article with that word in the title.
4. Focus – filterable column with the following choices:
a. Business
b. Cross Wrap
c. Event
d. Finish
e. Grips
f. Guides
g. Guild
h. Photography
i. Reel Seats
j. Rods
k. Techniques
l. Thread
m. Tip
n. Tools
o. Weave
p. Wraps
5. Year – the journal’s published year
6. Months – the journal’s coverage months
7. Notes – There are over 1200 entries in the index mostly focused on “how to” topics. Please note, it is a work in progress and is missing some of the early, early journals and is missing year 2005 through Summer 2012 (if anyone has those issues and is interested in helping fill in, please contact the Journal Editor).
To use, you will need to use Excel (or a tool that can process Excel files). . Open the file, be sure filtering is on (in Excel it’s the “Data” tab and “Filter” option in the “Sort and Filter” area), then search by keyword in the “Article” column or by “Focus” topic.
